Skype、今年5月で終了 今後は「Microsoft Teams」に統一
マイクロソフトは2月28日（米国時間）、2025年5月をもって「Skype」を終了し、「Microsoft Teams」に注力すると発表した。
15年以上前はSkypeをよく使っていました。Skypeは、インターネットを利用した音声通話、ビデオ通話、メッセージの送受信ができるコミュニケーションアプリケーション。もともとはP2P技術を使って無料で音声通話を提供していたことで有名になり、その後Microsoftに買収されました。
過去には海外とのやり取りもSkypeでしたものです。今ではLINEやZoomに置き換わってしまい、Skypeを知る人も少なくなっていましたが、時代の流れなんですね。
いろんなものがどんどん移り変わっていきます。
悲しい反面、新しいものを取り込んでいかなければ遅れて行ってしまいます。

I used to use Skype a lot more than 15 years ago. Skype is a communication application that allows voice calls, video calls, and text messaging over the internet. It became well-known for offering free voice calls using P2P technology, and was later acquired by Microsoft.
In the past, I used Skype for communication with people overseas. Nowadays, services like LINE and Zoom have replaced it, and fewer people are familiar with Skype. It’s a sign of the times.
As things continue to change, it’s a bit sad, but at the same time, we must embrace new tools and technologies to avoid falling behind.
