高校無償化、私立「45,7万円」引き上げ明記…自公維の合意で予算案の年度内成立に公算
2025年度予算案の修正を巡り、自民、公明両党と日本維新の会による合意案の概要が判明した。高校授業料無償化について私立高の生徒への就学支援金を26年度から「45.7万円ベース」に引き上げると明記し、社会保障改革に向けた協議体設置を盛り込んだ。
これって今のうちから基本中高一貫の私立に向けて中学受験していないと、高校入試で入れる学校との絡みで金銭的にはOKかもしれなくても、子どもの人生的にはあわよくばいい中高へを遠回りさせてしまうことになるのかな。まあ、中学自体が無償化の話ではないので私立中学は金がかかるのは今身をもって体感していますが、2人を私立って結構マンパワーに限りのある自分からすると大変だなぁと思っていたので、行く末を見守っています。
子ども3人だと大学が実質無償化などの恩恵は２人子供の家庭にあるわけでなく、一時期は東京都内に引っ越すことでの高校無償化もあり？と思っていたのですが。
世の中の制度は、自分が当てはまる時にはラッキーと思い、自分が対象外、自分に負担が増えそうなときにはふざけるなと思ものです。これはちょうどドンピシャ世代なので、年間100万円近い金が出ていく私立は、自分の将来の貯蓄増加を鈍化させているので良い方向に進んで議論していただくことを期待します。それ以上に、仕事を獲得するための努力や行動を加速させなければならない、そんな日々を送っています。
Private High School Tuition Exemption: Increase to “457,000 yen” Confirmed in Agreement Among Ruling and Opposition Parties, Budget Likely to Pass Within Fiscal Year
The outline of an agreement between the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Komeito, and the Japan Innovation Party (JIP) regarding amendments to the FY2025 budget proposal has been revealed. The agreement specifies that, starting in FY2026, the tuition support grant for private high school students will be increased to a “base amount of 457,000 yen,” and includes the establishment of a council for social security reform.
This raises a question: if children do not take the entrance exam for integrated private middle and high schools now, will they end up taking a longer route to a better high school? Financially, they might be covered, but from a life-planning perspective, could this be a missed opportunity? Since this policy does not apply to middle schools, private middle school education remains costly—something I am currently experiencing firsthand. Having two children in private schools is already quite challenging for someone with limited manpower, so I am closely observing how things unfold.
For families with three children, the benefit of practical tuition exemption for universities does not apply to those with only two children. At one point, I even considered moving to Tokyo to take advantage of its high school tuition exemption.
In the end, people tend to feel lucky when a system benefits them, while feeling outraged when they are left out or their financial burden increases. Since my family falls exactly within the affected generation, the nearly one million yen per year that goes into private schooling slows down my long-term savings. I sincerely hope discussions move in a positive direction. More than anything, I find myself needing to accelerate my efforts and actions to secure work—such are the days I live in.
