アサインとアテンドは、どちらもビジネスシーンでよく使われるカタカナ語ですが、それぞれ意味や使われ方が異なります。
アサインは、英語の “assign” に由来し、「割り当てる」「任命する」という意味を持ちます。主に仕事や役割の分担に関して使われる言葉で、「○○さんをこのプロジェクトにアサインする」といった形で、特定の業務や職務を担当者に割り振る際に用いられます。また、人だけでなく、リソース（予算や設備）を割り当てる場面でも使われることがあります。例えば「このプロジェクトには追加の予算をアサインする」といった表現も可能です。
一方、アテンドは英語の “attend” に由来し、「付き添う」「対応する」といった意味があります。ビジネスシーンでは、来客対応や会議・イベントのサポートなど、人への接客・案内に関する場面で使われることが多いです。「海外からのゲストにアテンドする」という表現では、単に付き添うだけでなく、移動の手配や会食の準備、会議の進行サポートなどを含む場合もあります。さらに、クライアントとの打ち合わせに同行する場合などにも「アテンドする」と言うことがあります。
