東京マラソンが参加料3300円の値上げ発表 26年大会から 国内ランナーは1万6500円→1万9800円に 物価高騰などの影響で
東京マラソン財団は２２日、物価高騰に伴う運営費の上昇などを理由に、２６年大会から参加料の値上げすることを発表した。国内参加者は１万６５００円から１万９８００円に。海外は１６０ドルから２３０ドルに上がる。（事務手数料、消費税を含む）
東京マラソンは今まで2回当たって走ったことがあります。4時間半ぐらいのへっぽこランナーでしたが、最後に走ったのは2016年。全然当たらなくなりました。
東京マラソンの魅力ですが、世界的に有名な「ワールドマラソンメジャーズ」の一つとして、多くのランナーにとって憧れの舞台となっています。東京の街を駆け抜けるコースは、歴史的建造物や近代的な高層ビルが立ち並ぶ景色を楽しめるだけでなく、観光名所を巡るような感覚を味わえます。特に浅草寺や東京タワーなど、東京を象徴するスポットを間近で見ることができるのは大きな魅力。ただ、走る時期が寒いのでトイレタイムがあるのがつらい。それもトイレに並ぶというのがきつかったことや、スタートまでに30分ぐらいかかるのもつらかったです。
値上げは当たれば別にいいです。ただ、当たらないままどんどん歳を取っていく。それが悲しいですね。まあ2度経験できたのはよいことで、金出してまで走りたいとは思っていません。今年も応募はしてみますが当たらなかったらはいそれまでよということでいいです。
The Tokyo Marathon Foundation announced on the 22nd that entry fees will increase starting with the 2026 event due to rising operational costs driven by inflation. Domestic participants will see the fee rise from 16,500 yen to 19,800 yen, while international participants will face an increase from $160 to $230 (inclusive of administrative fees and consumption tax).
I’ve been fortunate enough to win the lottery and run the Tokyo Marathon twice, though I’m just a humble 4.5-hour runner. The last time I ran was in 2016, and I haven’t been lucky enough to get selected since.
The Tokyo Marathon’s appeal lies in its status as one of the globally renowned World Marathon Majors, making it a dream race for many runners. The course offers an unparalleled experience of running through the streets of Tokyo, showcasing a blend of historic landmarks and modern skyscrapers. Passing iconic sites like Senso-ji Temple and Tokyo Tower is a highlight, giving participants a sense of touring the city on foot. However, running in the cold season comes with its challenges—frequent bathroom breaks are necessary, and long lines at the toilets can be tough. The 30-minute wait to cross the starting line was another challenge.
As for the fee increase, I wouldn’t mind paying it if I were lucky enough to get in. What’s disheartening is the thought of aging year by year without being selected. That said, I’m grateful for the two times I got to experience the race. While I don’t feel the urge to pay large sums for a guaranteed entry, I’ll still apply this year. If I don’t get in, well, that’s life.
