When we first started the company, the original name was “Will Bridge Associates.” That name was chosen by the other founding member, but to be honest, I always felt it was too long and didn’t really carry a good image. After that member left, I kept the name for a while, but it was often criticized for being overly long and hard to read. So in 2017, I finally changed it to “ASAP Inc.”, and it has now been eight years under this name.
However, lately I’ve been feeling conflicted. When you search for “ASAP Inc.,” auto repair companies tend to come up at the top instead. Maybe they’re running ads, but either way they dominate the search results, and we just can’t climb higher. I can’t help but feel I failed in naming.
Another issue is that people don’t always read it as I intended. Some call it “Asap,” others “A-sap,” instead of the way I thought—“A-S-A-P.”
The irony is that the company name “ASAP” actually came from clients constantly telling me, “Do it as soon as possible,” and that became the philosophy behind the business. So on one hand, I feel like changing the name would betray that founding principle. On the other hand, rebranding would cost money and require notifying every relevant party, which is a huge hassle. I’m seriously torn about what to do.
