麻布十番は、東京都港区に位置する歴史と現代が調和したエリアです。この地域は、江戸時代からの長い歴史を持ちながらも、現代的な魅力が共存するユニークな街として知られています。古くからの商店街がそのまま残る一方で、洗練されたカフェやレストラン、ブティックが立ち並び、多彩な顔を持つ地域です。
麻布十番のシンボルともいえる商店街は、地元住民だけでなく観光客にも愛されるスポットで、伝統的な和菓子店(豆源や今井屋や浪花家総本店、月島屋など)や老舗の飲食店が軒を連ねています。また、グローバルな影響を受けた店舗も多く、インターナショナルな雰囲気を楽しむことができます。毎年夏に開催される「麻布十番納涼まつり」は、この街の風物詩であり、多くの人々が訪れる賑やかなイベントです。
十番エリアは六本木や青山と隣接しており、アクセスの良さも大きな魅力の一つです。一方で、裏通りには静かな住宅街が広がり、落ち着いた雰囲気も持ち合わせています。かつて志村けんさんが愛した麻布十番ですが(昔よくガソリンスタンドで車を見かけました)、都会的な活気と穏やかな日常が交錯する特別な場所として、多くの人々に親しまれています。
麻布十番は最初の会社があった場所なので、今も本店を置いています。今からもう25年以上前の話ですがそれから変わらずある店もあります。特に好きなのはモンタボーのパン屋さん。今もたまに買いに行きます。麻布十番にまだ南北線が通っていなかった陸の孤島時代を知る生き証人です。

Azabu-Juban is a district where history and modernity coexist in harmony. This area, with roots dating back to the Edo period, is renowned as a unique neighborhood blending historical charm with contemporary appeal. While traditional shopping streets remain intact, they are complemented by stylish cafes, restaurants, and boutiques, giving the area its multifaceted character.
The Azabu-Juban shopping street is an iconic feature of the area, loved by both locals and visitors alike. It is home to traditional Japanese confectionery stores such as Mamegen, Imai-ya, Naniwaya Sohonten, and Tsukishimaya, as well as long-established dining spots. Alongside these, a variety of internationally influenced shops enhance the cosmopolitan atmosphere. The annual “Azabu-Juban Noryo Festival,” held every summer, is a signature event of the area, drawing large crowds and filling the streets with vibrant energy.
The Azabu-Juban area is conveniently located next to Roppongi and Aoyama, making it highly accessible. At the same time, its quiet residential backstreets offer a peaceful and serene ambiance. Notably, the area was once cherished by the late Ken Shimura, a beloved Japanese comedian, and it’s not uncommon to hear anecdotes about seeing him at the local gas station in his car. Azabu-Juban continues to charm many as a place where urban energy and tranquil everyday life intersect.
Our company has maintained its headquarters here because Azabu-Juban was the site of our first office. This dates back over 25 years, and many of the stores from those days still remain. One of my personal favorites is Mont-Thabor, a bakery I still visit occasionally. As someone who experienced the days when Azabu-Juban was an isolated “island” before the Nanboku subway line was introduced, I hold a special connection to this neighborhood.
